Alex’s Story
I grew up as an orphan after losing both my parents in a motor vehicle accident when I was 1 year old.
I lived with my aunt after that until I was 6 when she started abusing me, starving me, and eventually locked me out of her home for good. I resorted to the streets where I often went hungry and many street children I knew died from diseases such as cholera, malaria, and typhoid.
At one point I too grew very sick with malaria and typhoid, and my friends left me on the front porch of a church in the hopes that I would get help. The church members took me to the hospital where I stayed for four days until being discharged. It was at this point that a generous church member named Babra decided she would take me in. I received a full education thanks to Babra. I am a strong Christian and want to serve the Lord by helping others just as I was helped.
