Gloria Gwokyalya

Later on, my parents poisoned themselves and died on the way to the hospital.

When I was 7 I lived in a small village with both my parents. My parents were alcoholics who regularly abused me. Everybody in the community knew me because of my parents' actions in the community. They were both HIV positive.

One day my father tried to sexually assault me while my mother had gone to the market. I was saved by the help of a visitor who had come to see my parents. Later on, my parents poisoned themselves and died on the way to the hospital.

A week after my parent’s death, I started visiting the orphanage to play and eat lunch. In the evening hours, I never wanted to go back home to sleep. Alex eventually took me in to live permanently at the orphanage. I have dreams of becoming a fashion designer when I grow up.
